Argota shines in “How To Build A Better Boy”

FI- Ashley Argota

‘But Gayla, I don’t know how to play a mean girl?’ Ashley Argota said. I just looked at her and replied, ‘That’s why it’s called acting.’  Ashley is right. She is funny and sweet and wonderful. There isn’t a mean bone in Ashley’s body.

So how did she book the role of the evil yet beautiful Nevaeh in the Disney Channel‘s original movie How To Build A Better Boy about two teenage whizzes unwittingly using military software to program a robotic boyfriend. She worked at it.We went through all the beats and the comic structure. Then we added a few layers. Then we worked on focusing on the fact that mean people don’t think they are being mean. And viola! The rest you can see on your television.

In both comedy and drama, when you are acting not every part will be exactly like you. So find what you like about the part and focus on that. That’s why they call it acting.
